Salute To Great Soldier

This is with the reference to the article APRO SAM (July 6, 2008) by SHOBHA DE in TOI. Yes, it is ironical but true the way we paid tribute to gentle man-soldier par excellence Field Marshal Manekshaw. We are loosing the qualities of being proud Indians. We stop respecting people who do not matter us any more and who is honest, simple and upright. This is the biggest abuse to the humanity. Honesty and selfless service has become the passion of the fool-is this our great responsible citizens are trying to prove, were responsible to strengthen the Indian values. This is not the story of civil and defense society. Today’s moral has changed we have become more selfish and materialistic. We do not bother about the needy and deprived. In addition, the final out come is ignorance and selfishness. This termite of selfishness is getting deeper in the society.

On record, the Indian Army is the only volunteered organization, joined by the youth of our society. The nation is witnessing the drop in the volunteers in to the army. Indian Army, known for their rich traditions and heritage. With a very deep heart, I’m convinced and disappointed to believe that it is died with Sam. Earlier this organization joined by cream youth of the society, today it has become last resort among the youth- not as a volunteers but as a means of livelihood. All this can be attributed to the increasing corruption in the society-a great politicians, bureaucrats and today also joined by armed forces.

We should collectively accept the responsibility for the dying ethos and values by accepting these changes of our society. We are the one, are accepting these changes in the society over the years. And I’m happy that SHOBHA DE has raised her voice to remind and recollect the moral values of we Indians. I join Shobha De to forgive, those who have forgotten the great military hero Sam Bahadur. May God bless his soul and give millions of Sam to this country.
